
The Canadian Musical Theatre Writers Collective (CMTWC) in association with the American Society of Composers, Authors, and Publishers (ASCAP) is pleased to announce the first ever ASCAP Musical Theatre Workshop in Toronto. Workshop participants will have the opportunity to present selections from new original works in progress for professional critique.
The workshop will feature a panel of musical theatre luminaries, led by the legendary composer-lyricist Stephen Schwartz. Mr. Schwartz is a Tony, Academy and Grammy Award-winning writer, whose credits include the hit Broadway shows Wicked, Godspell, and Pippin, the Walt Disney films Enchanted, Pocahontas, and The Hunchback of Notre Dame, and the DreamWorks film The Prince of Egypt.
The ASCAP Musical Theatre Workshop occurs annually in New York and Los Angeles. Previous participants over the years are: Jonathan Larson (Rent), Lynn Ahrens and Stephen Flaherty (Ragtime), Steven Lutvak (A Gentleman's Guide to Love and Murder), Andrew Lippa (The Addams Family) and Glenn Slater (Sister Act).
