A MESSAGE FROM THE ARTISTIC DIRECTORS
The Canadian Musical Theatre Writers Collective (CMTWC) is a national organization that supports Canadian musical theatre writers—composers, lyricists, and bookwriters—and their work.
CMTWC was born out of the need to foster Canadian talent. After meeting with writers from across the country, it became clear that there is an energized group of artists who love the genre of musical theatre. However, many expressed concern about the lack of resources available to them in terms of craft-based education, new work development, and networking with other members of the musical theatre community. Since 2014, CMTWC has been working to help Canadian musical theatre writers overcome those challenges.
Since its inception, CMTWC has spearheaded a number of successful initiatives, including the CMTWC Writers Workshop (now in its second year in Toronto and first year in Vancouver), Blame Canada! (an annual concert series
